General Information & Regulation

Halifax Share Dealing (“Halifax”) is a UK-based stockbroker regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). It was founded in 1996 as a subsidiary of Halifax Bank and later became a division of Bank of Scotland. Halifax only accepts UK residents as clients, but it does offer access to some international stock exchanges. Halifax was regulated by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) with the regulatory license number of 225973, the financial markets Authority (FMA) with the regulatory license number of 146605 and the National Futures Association (NFA) with the regulatory license number of 0479264. However, these license have all been revoked at this stage, which is to say this broker is not subject to any regulation.

Account Types

Halifax offer different accounts to suit your needs. All account types provide access to their complete range of financial products and all trading platforms. Halifax has four accounts namely:

· Standard Share-Dealing Account

· Regular Savings Account

· Tax-Friendly Isa Account

· Sipp Account.

Fees

Halifax's fund trading fees are average. For each transaction, Halifax charges the same £9.50 flat transaction fee as for stocks and ETFs.

Account Base Currencies

At Halifax, only one base currency is available, which is GBP.

Trading Platform

Halifax offers a basic web trading platform that is easy to navigate.

Deposit & Withdrawal

Halifax charges no deposit fees and you can add money to your account using a debit card, via direct debit from your bank account, or by cheque. Halifax charges no withdrawal fees. You can only withdraw funds to a bank account you have designated.
